Outside of the Royal Albert Hall
Last Saturday I went to the Royal Albert Hall to watch the dress rehearsal of the Dr Who Prom. My friend Vicks was singing as part of the London Philharmonic Choir and kindly got us tickets for the dress rehearsal.
After watching a TV show about people who queue for the Proms, I always have a look at the queue to see if I can spot any faces I recognise. As the program was 10 - 15 yrs ago it isn't surprising I didn't see any familiar faces!
The hall was around a quarter full for the rehearsal filled exclusively with friends and family. There were quite a few children in attendance who were loving being able to get up close to some of the characters from the show. "Hello Mr Cyberman!"
I haven't seen an episode of Dr Who in twenty years, so was a bit lost when they set key moments from recent series to music. I appreciated the orchestra and choir, but it didn't evoke any memories from the show for me.
While I might not have known some of the more recent music, the theme tune which opened and closed the performance was electric. And even I knew the daleks!
Thanks for the tickets Vicks!
