Taronga Zoo
On Saturday I went to Taronga Zoo in Sydney and loved it! The zoo is located on the north shore of Sydney harbour, a short ferry ride away from Circular Quay. The views from the zoo are amazing (see the back drop to the bird show above).
The zoo is on a smaller scale to Australia Zoo that I visited over Christmas and feels a bit less like a theme park. We didn't manage to get round the whole zoo, but spent some time looking round the native Australian and African sections. We also saw the stars of the zoo - the Thai elephants (below).
The seal show was my highlight of the day. A thirty minute spectacle showing off three of the zoo's seals. Having only ever seen them sitting on rocks before they look quite fat and lethargic animals. However, they are very agile in the water and can jump surprisingly high. They are obviously very intelligent too and highly trained.
I'd like to go back for a second visit and you can even spend the night at the zoo in tents. Could be an interesting option!

Taronga is an awesome Zoo - the bird show is my absolute favourite. Such a beautiful backdrop and a lot of fun. Glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteI ♥ Taronga Zoo
ReplyDeleteStaying overnight at a zoo sounds like lots of fun!!
ReplyDeleteExcept for the close proximity to snakes... and the possibility of being sat on by an elephant.
Yay I'm glad you enjoyed Taronga Zoo :) Was there any commendable food there? lol
ReplyDeleteI just find it amazing that seals can move around without legs or substantial arms.
PS it was great meeting you at Glenmore/Mizuya!
