Arsenal 3 - 3 Fulham

Watching a Premiership game (along with seeing an event at the O2) was on my returning to London bucket list. More through luck than good planning I managed to achieve both inside a week. My list is suddenly looking a bit short with nothing left on it!

On Sunday I went to see Arsenal v Fulham courtesy of an old school friend who organised a ticket for me. Thanks!

Walking to the ground from the tube station, the first thing I noticed was the various stalls set up in people's front gardens. I'm not sure if the local residents run the stalls themselves or rent out their gardens to others. I liked the ingenuity even if I didn't treat myself to a hot dog or Arsenal pin badge.

It was my first time at the Emirates and it's a pretty impressive stadium. Easy to get into and out of, lots of open spaces inside the stadium and surprisingly wide seats (a random observation I know). I thought it was odd how few advertising hoardings there were inside the ground.  A sign of the recession? Or just the fact that the advertising hoardings are only of any value when they are within the view of the TV cameras? I suspect it is the later. My only negative comment about the stadium is the lack of big screens.

I was sitting directly behind the goal in the home end and had a great view down the pitch. Despite there being six games and a missed penalty with the last kick of the game, it wasn't a classic. A bit low on quality, all of the goals seemed to be created out of nothing or against the run of play. The most exciting period of the game was at the start of the second half when Arsenal had ten / fifteen minutes of sustained pressure.

Before going to the game I had thoughts that it might be fun to get a season ticket and go to and watch football regularly. I enjoyed the game, but I'm not sure if I could see myself going every weekend.
